I have a 5.7 with the throttle body and can not get it to start. If I put some fuel in the throat, it will start and idle. Info turn it off, it will not start back up without fuel down the carb.

Re: Starting problem

electric fuel not getting power, pressure switch is bad,
But if we knew like the year or serial number we could make a better guess.

Hi and welcome. We really need more detail. You say it will start and idle - what happens when you try to increase rpm's??

It is a Wellcraft 1999, s/n not sure.

When I switch the key on, it sounds like the fuel pump will run and then shut off. Once it is running, it will idle good. When I run it down the lake, it would run good but stumble once in a while.

Thought I had water in fuel and have treated it, but still does not explain start problem.

Have you actually replaced the fuel filter and checked the contents of the old filter to see if there is water in it. Treating it isn't going to help if the filters got more water than fuel.

Thanks for the input.

Turns out, it has plenty of fuel pressure and a good spark. Found the stud at the starter, has the main battery cable along with power feed wires and fuse able block loose. Removed it, cleaned post and wire terminals, reattached and tight motto starts and run well.

Can't believe it was even turning over as loose as it was.
