I have a 1968 6hp evinrude Fishman and a buddy was at the controls and started it in gear (forward). I had a few problems afterward with the motor seeming like it was reving up (could be something else or I could be hearing things)does starting it in forward hurt the motor?

Thanks for the help

Kevin

Hello.
There should not be any bad side effects as long as it is in forward gear.If you do it in reverse you may find yourself in the bottom of your boat.
