I have a 1977 150 HP tower of power with an external wiring harness that's not yet hooked up. Before I wire I'd like to Hotwire the ignition to make sure the engine runs. What ignition wires do I connect together to start the engine. I plan to just jump start the battery directly to the starter motor, so I'm asking only about the ignition. Thanks

Flippell, Whereas you can "hotwire" the ignition for that motor, if one of the connections comes loose, you risk damaging the expensive ignition (switchbox and trigger) components. To hot wire it safely, you will need two battery cables with ring terminals, an ign wire with ring terminals, a charging wire with ring terminals, plus a jumper wire with alligator clips.
