Ayuh,.... I donno's there much of a good or bad starter question, as customer service question, to me anyways,....
Many,.. 'ell, Most of those starters on the market, especially the cheaper ones are chinese,...
I'm sure there's other manufacturers, some here, most abroad,...
I get My starters from my local Napa, which gets their remans, 'n lower priced line from Con-rel, outa Scotia Ny,...
I donno who, or where they're made, but I know that Con-rel is but a phone call away, with the answers I need,....
I stopped in there years back while doin' a job down that way,....
A borrowed heavy roller blew it's starter all over a parkin' lot,... 3 hours from "Home",....
I called my local Napa, 'n got Con-rel's phone number, as well as the name of "The Guy" to talk too,...which I did,...
Within an hour, I'd gone to their little shop, got the starter, 'n had the roller, rollin' once again,...
'n they billed it back to the company, through my local Napa,....
That's Service,....
A few years ago is when I discovered that the new PM starters use slightly shorter('bout 1/4") bolts,...
I fought with a starter change job,... bad noises, busted pinion, til I Finally discovered the real Problem,....
After a cal to Con-rel, the proper new shorter(with the long but tiny heads) starter bolts were at my local Napa, 9:am the mornin' after the phone call,...
That's Service,....
Then I got a call from Con-rel, thankin' Me, for pointin' out a problem they hadn't seen yet,...
Since then, All the PM starters go out the door, with new bolts in the box,....
Bottom line is,.....
'bout Any of the PM motor starters are miles ahead of the ole 20lber ya took off,......
