Why don't you try it? Merc probably used a common starter for their engines.....doubt they would use numerous. With the different sized engines, the starter would just draw what current it needed to spin the engine, like 100 amps for a 50 hp and 150-175 for a 100 hp. My last 90 hp drew 150 as I recall. Didn't need to worry about burning it up because the starter doesn't run all that much an in the owner's manuals you are cautioned about overheating your starter if you stay on it for too long.
