starter problems

Have a 1990 mercruiser when you try to start you hear a click,after 5 or 6 trys it will finally turn over and start,it sounds like a starter solenoid,but not sure where it is and how to test.thanks

If you go to the top of the forum and click on the "Adults Only" sticky you'll find lots of important info. Number 2 on the list is trouble shooting the starting system. Good luck on your project.
