I want to use starter in bellhousing upper starter hole running velvet drive with chevy bellhousing adaptor.
the existing is mounted down under and almost impossible to get to without removing a bunch of hoses and electrical.
I have not been able to find the right starter. So Far I have bought two ccw starters but they do not reach the fly wheel.

Does any body know what kind of starter I need.

Ayuh,.... Then my guess is the ring gear needs to be swapped to the other side of the flywheel...

Re: starter problem

14" when the bendix moves forward it is not long to enter the flywheel

Thanks I think you are right by changing the ring gear would move the teeth about 3/4 to 1" closer to the starter and that's about what it needs.
Of course that means pulling trans and bellhousing to get to flywheel.

OH WELL Another lesson learned.

Thanks for the help

Ayuh,.... Take a hammer, 'n punch, 'n drive the ring gear off,...

Heat it in yer oven to Hot,...
Then drop it down onto the other side of the flywheel....
It oughta fall right into place...
