Chrysler 75 hp mod#757 HC , serial # 19440
Type B mount. Have new battery, sanded all cable connections, cleaned inside starter.
Starter turns real slow and I can only get about 5-6 turns out of it before it stops. This dog has to spin before it starts. Do I need starter or battery. Battery one week old marine 750 Stowaway.
$85.00. Hydrometer says full charge. Three days ago starter was working better. It was slow but would start motor. If I need starter , do any of you have a used one to sell? JDA45@msn.com

connect up a voltmeter to the starter as shown. Take a reading while attempting to crank. If you have less than 9.6 volts, it a voltage supply problem (weak battery, bad cables, connections, solenoid) If you have more than 9.6, and it doesn't crank, its a starter motor problem.....

The first time I took my starter apart and cleaned it. It didn't spin correctly once I put it back togther. So I took it apart again and put it back together. It worked like a champ. I have no clue what I did differently the second time.
