Starter conversion

Recently I lucked on a very nice 1958 Johnson 18 hp. Very good compression and runs great. During my search I ended up with a 1977 Evinrude 35 hp w/ electric start. I cannot imagine it working however is there a possibility the 35 hp starter working on the 18? I have read about the extensive interchangability of this engine series. I have been told that in 1978 the engines were changed to a different series. Thanks in advance.

if you have the right bracket, that starter should be plug and play.
