Hello, I have a 1978 Mercury 800 experiencing a starter issue. The bendix drive engages the fly wheel, it slowly tries to start and then gear just spins on the shaft. Thought the engine might be ceasing up but its very well maintained and rope starts just fine. Has a fairly new battery. Cranking amps? Starters just shot? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
