1994 Evinrude 200 HP 90 Degree Looper. This was my first rebuild and first I would like to say Thank you to everyone for all the great help. I really enjoyed doing it. Started engine on trailer with double oil and garden hose. Started fairly easy and I let it run about 5 minutes. Will try to take to water in the next few days if weather permits. The only problem I see so far is that the pressure relief valve housing is leaking. When I took this off the engine for rebuild I did not see a gasket for this or any sealer on the plastic housing. The only thing in the form of a gasket was a rubber washer in side the housing. I replaced it with a new one. I checked the BRP web site and it does not show a gasket and the shop manual was very vague (Seloc) on this. Do I have something inserted wrong or do I need to put a little gasket compound on the housing. Any help would be appreciated. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Re: Started Up First Rebuild. 1 Problem

I am talking about the pressure relief or perhaps it called the blow off valve. It is between the thermostats. A hose from each thermostat runs to each side of the blow off housing. The housing is attached to the block which also has a water passage in it. The housing is leaking. As I said I remember no gasket between the housing and the block and none is shown on the BRP website. Not quite sure how it seals. Any help would be great.
