Title says it all, Maxum 2100, 5L mercruiser with Alpha 1 Gen ll outdrive accidently started with the drive in the trailer position. Instantly stopped the engine, lowered drive and restated. Initially thought I'd got away with it however noticed no longer achieving full revs, down from around 4600rpm (47 mph) to about 4000rpm (40mph), engine / drive also sounding slightly rough. Plan to take the boat to the local Mercruiser dealer but would appreciate your thoughts on likely damage before doing so. Thanks in advance.
As stated it would be hard on things and repeated or long duration running could eventually cause u-joint failure, but no immediate cause and affect on WOT. I would look elsewhere.
