I have a 1964 Starling Jet P-500 Troller 5HP Outboard with a Clinton Powerhead that I cannot get to start. I purchased the motor last year and it was completely reconditioned to like to new condition, it looks brand new. All new parts were put on, new carb, new lines, etc. I ran the motor a few times last year with no problems and winterized it - ran stabilizer through the engine for a while, then drained the gas from the carb for the winter. Now I cannot get it to start. I always use lawn boy oil in the motor at a ratio of 32:1 and it has worked fine until now. As I prime the engine with primer bulb, gas will leak out from the carb. If I don't prime, it will not leak. I am assuming this is flooding the engine so I turn the two carb knobs to all the way lean and pull the rope a few times, then reset knobs to about 3 1/2 to 4 and try to start and nothing. I have placed new spark plugs this year and still cannot start. Can someone please help me as I will not spend the money on this motor to take to a mechanic. Please help. I am assuming that the float needle is stuck in the carb, thus it is flooding, but I do not know how to take a carb apart, and do not want to destroy the motor.

Well I hate to do this but here goes,
You basicly declared that there was no resolution to your problem, you are unwilling to do anything.

You don't want a mechanic
you don't want to spend any money on it
You declared complete ignorance of the carb but then diagnosed its problem.
From my point of view you need to get out your wrenches and screw drivers, but then you pointed out you did not want to destroy the engine which leads me to believe you want someone else to be held liable and fix it for free. So whats it going to be?
I say fix the dang thing yourself and go fishin.......................................................................>
