Re: Starcrafts for sale

OUCH !! The Canadian price is comprable to a new boat or one that is just a few years old. Not a good price, as the reality is the boat is 30 years old. at least it has a top. West coast prices are a lot higher than the East coast . The other boats back East are way more them most advertised. The 18.4 Holiday is nice but even in the Greater western Wash area is more than I paid for my Holiday 22 ft with a 200 Johnson and a 9.9 merc kicker and a lot of gear. The smaller one is way off base ,IMHO I really have no use for FORCE MOTORS.I have seen to many from the local now closed Bayliner Marine with trashed engines. Also the two have no mention of any top and that is several hundred up tp 16 hundred for a fit top. Gee guess I just needed to vent.

GLG Thats just like mine. Do they really go 60+ mph with a 90 on them? can't see it. Pugetsound . Yea they are pricy up here. After the new O/B on mine I could have bought a new Legend for the same price. But it wouldn't have my blood and sweat in it, and it wouldn't be a Starcraft. I am sure looking forward to spring and the the first time at the lake.

Personally I think some people are out of their minds, 11K ? No way that does 60, and if it did I don't want to be in it. Thats the kind of boat/person i see going down the lake, I stop fishing, and wait for the accident. But you know, theres one born every day.

Yep that price is steep. He is probably trying to recoup some of the money he has spent on it. I think most of us have spent too much on our boats. 60mph is that fast? I don?t know because I have never been in a boat doing more than 30mph. Ok I did go in one of those twin rotax BRP speedsters. We were doing 70mph and it was enough for me. I needed fresh underwear after that run. Can a 16? with a 90hp do 60mph? Maybe, I really don?t know.

Re: Starcrafts for sale

GLG I E-mailed the fellow in Vancouver about the 16 Starcraft. I asked him if he hit the wrong key on the price. He answered to tell me how rude I was. Said the motor on the boat was worth $10.000 and the boat and trailer were actually only $1500. I know Canadian prices are high but I don't think he got my point. I diden't have the heart to ask about the speed thing. I live in Mt Vernon and am considering a smaller Starcraft for the Skagit River. My 22 Holiday is a bit much when the River is swift in high water. The length is a problem in the current . I may stop to look at it next week as I have all my dental work done in Surrey. Do you fish the west side of Vancouver Island. Great places to fish ( and catch) North of the Border is the only way to go to fish. Even the non -resident fee is acceptable.

60mph i dont think so, maybe 60 kpm which would be about 37mph which would be about right for that boat and that engine

Re: Starcrafts for sale

My bass boat will do 52mph with a Merc Mariner 135 hp and I have been in boats that did OVER 75-80mph. These were fiberglass bass boats made for the speed and they scared the bejeebers out of me. They are airplanes at that speed. I don't believe the Starcraft tinnies were designed for that speed, more to take waves at a safe speed. I can believe it may do upwards around 40-45 on a good day, but not more. I do agree without a doubt I may have a chunk of change invested in my boat when I'm done, a little at a time, but I also will know exactly what I've got. I also know I can buy a blown 100+ hp engine, rebuild it myself, and have less than a grand in it. He is trying to sell it to someone with more money than sense. I apologize for my rant. Slowly warming up....very slowly:)
