Hey folks, I’m having a hard time deciding on the kicker mount location. I would like the motor to sit straight up vertical and totally out of the water, but that will require having an adaptor plate for the mounting holes so that I have something to bolt to above the splash well opening.

The other option I have is the mount it lower and either extend up the mounting pad with an adaptor plate or leave the motor tilted when in the up position. But I’m afraid of the carb from leaking fuel into my freshly painted splash well.

Lastly, do you guys travel with the kicker mounted or do you take it off for the trip?

When I got my Holiday the previous owner had one of those kicker brackets mounted on the lower section of the transom. Are you worried the kicker wouldn't be totally out of the water when the bracket mechanism is in the up position? If so maybe you could find a bracket with more travel.

As far as fuel spilling, maybe you could install a shutoff on the fuel line to the kicker so you could close it and run all the fuel out of the motor before tilting it for storage.

Thanks, yes that is exactly it. I do that now with the main motor. I was hoping to avoid that process because I can forget or it’s more time consuming. Especially if I’m bopping around from place to place with the big motor.

I might make an ext plate to raise the motor pad. So that I don’t have to tilt the motor.
