Hi,

Sold my 1993 Regal Valanti 176 SE and upgraded to the Starcraft Star Step 221E I/O Deck Boat. The boat didn't come with a manual and the dealer says they can order a generic manual for all boats for like $40.

Wanted to see if anyone can point me to something online. Just looking for instructions on things like setting up the bluetooth stereo, depth finder alarms and whatever other options the boat may have that I"m not aware of.

Thanks!
Julian

Google the model and maker of the accessories you're interested in.

None of that info would have been in an owners manual. It'd be basically what the dealer told you: basic/generic

Trying my best today not to sound rude and obnoxious but um... why didn't the dealer go over those items upon delivery of your boat? Also, this model appears to be current production so have you reached out to the manufacturer directly to see what they can offer? Or ask the dealer for the customer service number for the manufacturer?

As to the accessories, you're probably better off googling the various components as they'll have / should have the info you're looking for.

yea-- I bought from a private party. The generic owner's manual the dealer said is $40. Don't want to spend the money to only learn it covers things like "Wear your life jacket." :)

I just want to get to know my new (used) boat better. For example, it's got ports on the side for what look like a bilge pump, but my previous boat only had one port-- this thing's got 3 or 4 :) There are other components I'm curious about and don't know what they do.

My Whaler came with a bound book that included everything on board plus the kitchen sink. Even included wiring, plumbing and steering system diagrams for the entire boat. Also in the packet were oem manuals for every single component. It was all contained in a zippered vinyl briefcase.

My SeaRay came with all of the above, except the equipment manuals were links to online manuals. Seems nobody prints manuals any more.

My Starcraft came with a paper warranty card and nothing else. The Whaler was a Starcraft upgrade.....LOL.

Locate parts numbers for the individual equipment and I'm sure the company web sites have the manuals online. Print them out or bookmark them.

You probably have a drain for a cooler. Could be in the glove box, could be elsewhere depending on the layout of the boat. IF you have a livewell you have a drain for that as well. So with the bilge, there's (3) right off the top of my head...depending on options.

Amazingly...my '99 Bayliner had a manual that covered every component. As did my Four Winns. My current boat had only an operators manual (boating safety) and a manual for the engine - all other systems I had to google and find the manuals for as they were not included.

Here's a follow up question-- maybe will help someone with the same boat in the future who can't find a manual :)

Was riding around last weekend. Seemed like the boat would beep when going in to a sharp turn towing a tube. It's a 2016 mercruiser-- any idea why it would beep? I suppose it could be the depth gauge, but not sure. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Your original post indicated a boat owners manual. Don't know whether Starcraft prints one or not, but an engine manual should have originally come with the boat.

Mercruiser engine manuals are available directly from Mercury Marine. You can get a hard copy mailed or download one yourself.

The manual should list trouble codes.
