i just found out about the starcraft section. i just bought a 1982 ss 160 this summer to do my catfishing out of im gonna go through it as time and money permit.it has a 1975 evinrude 70 hp and will gps at 36mph wide open its a great boat and handles the river waves well.it is a little cramped for me but im a 6ft4 guy but i couldnt go wrong for a 1000 dollars.im planning on redoing the interior and making more room i will post pics of the boat in its current shape when i figure out how.

Welcome JD, you will find a ton of information here that will be priceless when you do a restore. Look in " tips & tricks" section and you will find information on how to post pics. EZ posted an uplink for me ( and everyone ) and now I is as smart as dem guys. Several guys here love the SS, so you are in great company. Dale

Welcome to the Starcraft club johndeerenut (as soon as we see some pictures)

I guess I'm one of those guys who love the Starcraft SS he refers to

I recently bought a '79 SS with a '70 80hp Merc for $1000 so I know how ya feel(happy to get a great boat at a good price that is)

I've got a resto thread going you can check out(link below)...for some good help check out ezmobee's resto threads and north beach's project. They have both done a great rebuild jobs on similar rigs.
