Anyone know where I might be able to find these for a 1976 16' Super Sport? I have seen pictures and I believe my boat should have them. Those long strips that run down the sides. Anyone that can lend a hand, I appreciate it.

They aren't OEM on your later 70's Starcraft.

Yah, but what if he just wants em on there, eh?

Wiggles, I'm thinking that I'd like a set on my boat too though I think they are going to be hard to come by.

Cheers!

I was replying most specifically to this part "I believe my boat should have them."

Heck I had them on my Jupiter and would have loved to get rid of 'em.

Re: Starcraft side bumpers

I believe they were stock on starcrafts up until around '74...we could check the brochures to be positive...so I agree with EZ.

Nothing wrong with putting them on to protect the hull from scratches, but not required to take a boat back to original "factory" look.

I personally like how the gunwales on my '79 SS stick out enought to the side where the rubrails are so it always will hit the dock pilings prior to the actual hull getting scratched. I believe that's why Starcraft switched over from the other way.

The boats have a cleaner look without the older style side rails in my opinion.

Are these not obtainable thru TACO? I ordered the inserts and am sure I saw rail at a West Marine store.

Found for sale a absolutly LIKE NEW, 1978 Starcraft 18 ft. S/S. Motor is a Evenrude 115 1998. Wants to sell thru a boat dealer and has not set a price. You would have to see this to believe the condition of the entire package. Never been in Salt water its at Lake Whatcom in Bellingham Wa. Fair price???? Im not interested as I have a 22 ft Holiday that was in excellent condition, but nothing like this 18 S/S. if interested contact me on PM. I could arrange for you to contact the dealer if he gets the boat to sell. How can I post this on the Main web site. I hate to re type it again, But will if needed.

You fellas are so much help, thanks a lot. I've been trying to find out if my boat had them to begin with. I've seen a lot of older Starcrafts from the 70's with them, so I just thought my boat had them. I kinda like them myself, they are old school for sure.

Coasted in too fast last summer with my son and hit the dock on the port side of the boat. Put a little ding and scrape and thought if I had those rails the outcome would have been different. Course, I could have just thrown a bumper out and not killed the engine so early. My 76 Super Sport is quite a special boat. As much as I think I'd like a newer, faster boat, this classic looking boat is a head turner on Lake Erie and handles everything it has thrown our way.
