You never run into these down here.. Just wondering if it would be a good addition to the fleet?

1974 Starcraft Boat w/ Motor - $600
I have a 1974 Starcraft boat that is 18 foot long. It is an aluminum boat. It has a 1977 Evinrude 140 H.P. motor. The boat has sat up for over a year. It was my childhood boat and I had dreams of restoring it. Right now I have a child on the way and don't have much extra funds for this venture. I am asking 600 OBO. This would be a great project boat for a fisherman / family man. I have title to both the Boat and Motor. Thanks for looking.

Don't really need it ... But Momma said no fishing in the Four Winns.. Sometimes would like to do a bit of fishing.. Bet anything I can make the Rude scream if it isn't fried...

Can't Loose on a deal like that, great Starcraft hull, If the motor runs what a deal. I am kind of biased, I will only own a starcraft.

Re: Starcraft.. Should I

If that motor has good compression I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Well worth the asking price. That being said, two things I should point out....closed bows suck for fishing (unless you're doing big lake fishing with down riggers and what not) and also, pre '78 Johnson/Evinrudes are very difficult to add tilt 'n trim to as the old style units are VERY expensive. The newer (post 78) units are more reasonable. That motor does not appear to have TnT currently and that could be a pain. Great motor otherwise. You will not find an easier boat to restore and maintain than a tinnie like that.

Re: Starcraft.. Should I

I bought a 1973 like that, with the hopes of making it a fishing boat.
No way.

The wife said it was too nice, don't go messing it up.
For what its worth, it came with a pristine 65 hp, that push the boat at 31 mph.
So you don't need a great deal of power , should you need to repower.

If he is asking 600, prove to him that the motor is shot and the floor is soft, buy it for 200.
Then drive it to St Louis where I will meet you and take it off your hands.

I was thinking you could stand on that bow and fish your butt off...
That 140 rude would push it right along to get there..

You would need to reinforce the bow before you could stand on it (Starcraft only put some 1x3s under there) but you could certainly do that. That boat should go 45MPH minimum with that motor on it. Maybe 50.

It's a bit of a drive to even go see it.. Still might go have a quick glance and see if I can really steal it..

50MPH:eek: I get the butt puckers at 40.. The rig I got now will do 48.. Once...
Guess I am getting old and want to live..
I do enjoy the power for outta the hole..
