Hey! I scored a Starcraft puller tonight!

Massey Ferguson 35 Deluxe (early to mid 60's)

Well, moving Starcrafts around the property is only part of her work load. Plowing snow and hauling firewood up to the house will be the bulk. Maintaining trails and giving kiddos hey rides sometimes too.

So yah, I was thinking my tax return $$ would go to a kicker for the Islander. Uh, not so much now.

Oh ya, Jennifer said...

"that is the ugliest tractor I have ever seen in my entire life."

For those of you who follow my brides commentary, I guess it matches the two tin boats I have here, eh!

Oh well, I'm pumped!

I've got one of those money pits er Starcraft pullers too. 1984 Massey Ferguson 1135 been a real good tractor actually. Had it for close to 20 yrs now. It has actually pulled the boat to after I put it ,the boat, in the field, and we got a lot more snow. Front bucket helps for hauling firewood.

Re: Starcraft Puller

Thanks guys!

Yah, she runs great! I actually drove it home from the sellers place, he lives just up the road. Super nice old fella, knows his stuff. I stop and chew the fat with him now and again. He has probably 30 tractors, completely restored, beautiful, in a pole building. Trophies covering the walls from his entries.

That engine is smooth, trans is solid, no drips, no smoke, brakes are solid, no oil running out, no coolant leaks, metal looks good, just a solid, straight tractor.

The three point makes a huge difference when I am moving trailers around. Back it up, lift, move, set er down. Easy:D

Heyyou - looks like yours has a few more horses than the 35 on mine

Charlie - she'll be ran hard and put away wet. Maybe a rebuild some day;):)

Now if it only had a loader you could use it to flip the Islander to paint the bottom.:D

Well, I am also a bottom feeder tractor guy. FEL would have probably doubled/tripled the cost of this here Ferguson!

And the bottom paint....

Nice, I like the new workhorse:)

Looks like that grater blade could use a little wire wheeling.

Now you will need a boat barn...and a tractor barn 'cause the implements take up an awful lot of room. Are you gonna get a snowblower attachment or stick to plowing?

Sounds like your neighbor is a great guy to talk to about buying tractors.

Looks like fun to me and $$ well spent, congrats:D

Yah, very jealous of Glen's pole building. Man I need one of those!

Yup, I'll just push snow with that blade. 3 point, PTO driven blowers are very $$ and pricey to maintain too.

That tractor is going to make my work so much easier!

Dude i love that tractor. Prior to the Islander i had restored an old cub. Nothing like having a tractor on the property.. Just make sure that the PTO has a clutch in it.. Some tractors of that vintage (I think fords) but since Massy's were copies.. did not have the rear PTO clutched, thus if your brush hog or rear implement bound up, it could actually flip the tractor over..

Anyway awesome!!

OK, so I have put her through her paces and I am a very happy man! She is running great! Took the boys on a couple of rides, they love it too:)

Yah Tim, this one actually has a two stage clutch, cool:cool:

Speaking of flipping....

I had a JD 770 a few years ago - pulling a trailer load of wood that hung up on a stump, trailer stopped and the tractor tires kept right on turning. That tractor flipped in the blink of an eye. I was on my back and the tractor was standing straight up in the air before I even realized what had happened. Thank the good Lord in Heaven there was a roll bar on it. It was a small tractor at just a hair over 2000 lbs. but it still could have busted me up bad or killed me.

So, in short, uber important I fab up a roll bar for this Ferguson!

actually, maybe thank the personal injury lawyers since they're the ones who cause our stuff to have guards etc on it, for better and for worse. we all like to cuss em when the results of their actions annoy us, but we should keep in mind that some of their meddling doesn't just cause expensive and onerous regulations, it helps [helped] keep one of the Starmada alive..... glad yer still with us Jas!

Re: Starcraft Puller

Yea, mines a little bigger 122 horse, I used to use it in my logging business. Made an extra 10 to 15 grand a year cutting saw logs for people in my spare time. Then the timber business took a dump. No one building housed anymore. I can carry a half cord of firewood in the bucket tho. Massey's are good tractors. And yes they will flip. The bucket and frame adds weight to the front end. But the rops (roll over protection) cages are pretty necessary. I've got about that much white stuff here yet too.

Great find! I still wonder how you find the coolest stuff Jas :D jealous once again. I love those older tractors. great machines and built to last, unlike some of the newer stuff built today.
