What sort of fuel economy can I expect with this Islander running on a completely rebuilt 1989 4.3 liter OMC Cobra (Michigan Motorz 2022 ). I am used to a 140 horse 4 cylinder mercruiser which I am told only "sips" fuel. I don't race all over the place, but I am curious to know what to expect.
Thank you.

Ayuh,...... With my ole fishin' barge, a '74 Starcraft Islander, 4.3LX Merc,.....
I'd go out on Lake Ontario from Sackets Harbor, run down to stoney point in the trench, or out into the main lake for salmon, 'n trout, then back,....
In all those trips, I never used a full tank of gas,.....
Mine had 2 tanks, one under each seat, 18 gallon, I believe,....maybe 12 gallon,....
Back in the late '90s, into the oughts, that was less than $20.bucks a day,...

That sound like a 50 mile 12 hour trip. That gives me an idea of what to expect. I was worried that a ride from Oswego Harbor to the northern dunes would bankrupt me, but its not that bad.
