Stalls when putting into reverse after winter layup

Finally unwinterizing the boat..The boat stalls when going into reverse but goes into forward fine.If I get on it shifting into reverse it will stay running.This is with muffs on in the driveway.I put the outdrive on in forward gear.It worked perfect last fall..Did I not do something correct? Would this have anything to do with the barrel needing adjustment..I read it should never stall Going INTO gear so not sure what the barrel adjustment would do

Your assumptions are correct, but since it is dying going into reverse I suggest checking the shift interrupter adjustment first. Then check the shift cable adjustment.

Ayuh,..... Or just buy a new lower shift cable kit, 'n change yer's,....

It's finally given up the ghost,....

That's a classic symptom of a draggin' lower cable,...
