stalls at idle...

2000 Johnson 50 2 cyl., purchased used. Last owner had carbs rebuilt and motor winterized. My mechanic mounted motor, did link & sync and set idle (out of water on muffs) I found the motor would stall while docking in gear at low RPMs. I adjusted idle screw a few turns. Now motor in neutral runs at about 1,100 RPM. In gear it idles around 900, but some times still stalls. Any thoughts? I was considering trying a decarb spray.

OK. Do the RPM ranges I stated sound normal? Should a good decarb as stated in the link help what I have decsribed? Or should I be headed in a different direction?
Thanks

the decarb will help any engine. your rpm at idle in gear in the water should be 750, any more and you stress the clutch dog in the lower unit. you cannot set idle on muffs, period. if the decarb doesn't cure it , it's time for a proper carb cleaning and bebuild kit.
