stalls at idle johnson 33hp

My motor stalls at idle. I could get it started at a higher rpm (putting the throttle up in the middle), but it stalls at idle when I bring the throttle down whether in gear or in neutral. I've got spark on both cylinders, compression is good (btw 105 and 110 on both cylinders), points are changed, replaced a a bad coil, cleaned and rebuilt carbs earlier in the season. I didn't have this problem earlier, even when I was dropping a cylinder. Can't find anything on the forum that is helpful. Also, adjusting the low speed needle doesn't help. I'm about ready to give up on this motor. I've been having issues all season.

My motor is a '67 Johnson 33hp, model rxl-15.

You say you cleaned the carbs? I thought there was only 1 carb on the 33?

If you're getting a good blue spark on both cylinders then it's usually a fuel issue. You said you only replaced one coil? What about the other? Did you remove it and look it over closely? Sometimes they arc through the bottom to the plate and you cant see it unless you remove it. Or maybe the wires are grounding out somewhere? Check them closely also.

Assuming the spark is good then look at the carb. When you cleaned it (them?) did you put a rebuild kit in it? How was the float? Did you take it apart and clean ALL the passages? Did you remove the welsh plug(s) and clean the low speed ports? It sounds like a low speed curcuit in the carb issue.

I pulled the carb (type-o on the first post), took out the low speed needle valve, and sprayed some carb cleaner in the passages. Started the motor today on the muffs and idled beautifully. Thanks for the post.
