I have an old Johnson 70hp that is giving me problem when it gets to operating temp.

Basically, I let it run at idle for a couple of minutes, it will run strong, until I turn off the engine and restart, or even some time when I put it back in neutral for a while (like when a water skier falls) then when I floor it, 80% of the time is will just bog and die when it starts to get a bit of speed.

When my father owned the boat, he had it checked twice, and they never found the problem. I only run fresh premium gas, with premium 2 stroke oil.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? thanks in advance

start with the basics of trouble shooting, check the spark on all 3 cylinders, and the compression. this will give us a base to start with. i'm 90% that the problem is going to be a coil getting hot and failing, or dirty carbs. but there is no point in buying parts till we have a base info.
