Stalling out when Trimming motor up

Hello, I have a 2001 mercury 50hp 4 stroke carbureted outboard that is shutting off at mid to high throttle if I try trimming the motor. It is as if I turn the key off. Have tried moving the wiring harness as if a broken wire. No luck. Didn't know if there was an oil level switch or something like that. Looking for any help on this problem.
