stalling issues

I have a 1977 70 hp evinrude. I just bought it recently and have had a bunch of problems in the lower unit. Now that those issues are resolved, I am having problems with the engine stalling out once it is in gear and the throttle is applied. I had it running good for about 20 mins before this problem started. Now it does it regardless of the engine temp. I can manually adjust the throttle and choke butterflies and get it to take off, but applying just the throttle stalls it out. I can rev the engine fine in neutral. Any suggestions?

It idles around in gear fine also. Have new fuel, tried two gas cans, and checked hoses for leaks and kinks.

sounds like high speed jets picked up trash, and are clogging. carb cleaning, rebuild kits, be sure to remove and clean the jets. then do a link n sinc. Read the TOP SECRET FILE, carb directions there.

any way to clean the jets without rebuilding the carbs? any way to test that this is the problem? I just had the throttle cable replaced. could this just be out of adjustment?

Just pulled the plugs to see what they look like and they are all wet. The wire from the first coil to the spark plug came completely out of the coil. it is very oxidized. could this be my problem?

Yes it could well be the problem. It could be getting poor spark through the oxidization and/or due to the spark going to ground. It could be a combination of poor spark and dirty carb. issues as well. Have you looked at the Top Secret File at the top of this forum. There are lots of good suggestions in there that you should have a look at. Rick.
