Hey Newbie on the site and hoping I am doing everything ok.....I have a 98 Falcon with a 7.4L Volvo Penta engine..recently had new fuel filter, new fuel, cleaned spark arrestor, a new impeller, new fuel pump installed, and new plugs due to bad prior owner maintenance, but anyway out on lake yesterday for approximately 15 minutes, 5 of which at about 3000 RPM, and then sudden stall. Sat for a couple of minutes and engine would only turn over but not fire. After about an 1h, with were hanging with friends who also had a boat, but it did re-start and took an uneventful 15 minute ride back to the slip and around 3000 RPMs. Should note the boat was out several times after the maitenance w/o issue.

any suggestions, ignition, anti siphon, or perhaps tach which was been somewhat erratic of late?

thanks.

Re: Stalling and Befuddled

Thanks-I will give that a whirl....does that happen due to the increased engine heat?...I ask as we came out of the slip fine and ran about 15 minutes and it just stalled when on a plane...let it cool for an hour, re-started and ran like a top for 15 minutes back to slip. would any type of condensation in the fuel do that as well as it has been cool lately?

If the fuel tank vent is clogged, engine will run fine until you build up such a vacuum in the tank the pump will no longer be able to "suck" up fuel. When you stop, air will slowly leak into the tank and allow you to start and run until you build up a vacuum again.
