I have a 2 stroke 75 hp Tohatsu (1 year old), and it starts and idles fine. During the last couple of start ups however, when i put it in forward gear, it stalled. This has happened during the last 3 start ups. I changed the plugs but that did not help! Can anyone here help? Thanks!!

Could be :
Carbs probably need a proper deep cleaning,
idle speed is set too low.
Bad idle sync between 3 carbs.
Do you have a installed tach ?
Other than idle OB works fine throughout the whole left throttle range ?
It's good to run carbs dry after OB use or while flushing afterwords.

Happy Boating

Thanks Sea Rider! This is a direct Injection engine, and it does have a tach. Seems to work fine other than the stalling!

Your MD75C2 is under warranty. Have the dealer look at it.

Easier said than done! I will not tamper with the motor, as it is under warranty, but my dealer is located 215kms away from me and they don't do house calls. Obviously if I encounter any serious or consistent motor issues,I will haul the beast over the rutted and potholed highway to the dealer, but not for something simple that may be explained through alternate sources. Thanks Paul! Cheers!

As an alternative, you could get a Factory service manual, settle in for some reading, and then throw the motor into diag mode and see what if any error conditions have been recorded. Perhaps also reset the TPS initial setting, and based on what you find, there might be a simple cure. I trust the vapor separator was drained for last season's storage, right?
