I have a nearly new (2yrs) long shaft 5 hp 4 stroke tohatsu that I use to push my driftboat around. During operation the engine will start to sputter and I will have to pump the primer bulb to keep it running. The bulb is not not flat but there is not full pressure on the bulb. Motor has very few hours. Any suggestions?
Respectfully, Reg

Make sure the vent is open. Try a different primer hose/bulb, in case yours has a leaky check valve. If the bulb will bot get hard, either the carb is flooding, a gas line (or component) is leaking, or a check valve in the pimer hose/bulb is not seating.

Make sure that you always run the carb dry at the end of each and every day.

I chased this problem on my 5 nissan a few weeks ago. It was the fuel hose where it connected to the fuel pump. Mine had feeble wire clamps that didn't clamp the hose tight. It looked like the hose shrunk enough to make the clamp ineffective. I changed the hose and put normal clamps on to make a snug fit. It took care of the problem.
