is it true that hitting an object with a stainless steel blade vs. an aluminum blade may cause more lower unit damage?

Re: stainless steel prop

aluminum is a relatively soft metal, so upon
impact the blade will bend or break absorbing
most of the impact.
stainless is the opposite, it will not absorb
impact, meaning the drive shaft and lower unit
has to.

i hit a rock with a stainless prop and it did
little damage to the prop, but i blame that
on a drive shaft, crank problem that developed
soon after.

cheers !

The rubber hub should absorb any shock. Ive hit hard enough to bend the blade back past 90* from where its supposed to be and never had any subsiquent damage.
