THis may be a dumb question but why is a stainless steel prop better than aluminum. My grandpa just got a new motor and outdrive on his boat. The old motor struggled to plane the boat with the 19 pitch aluminum prop. But with the 19 pitch stainless steel prop it did just fine.

Re: SS vs. aluminum

19"= 19" should not be much noticable difference. SS = heavier, thinner and stronger.
Alum = flexing, thicker, lighter and more forgiving for unseen obstructions.

Never a dumb question. Or at least I think. I personally for my boat find a major difference between stainless and the "older" aluminum props. I say old because I just got a Turningpoint Hustler (aluminum) from iboats here and it is close enough.

Yep there's that much of a noticable difference.

Comment on jammer's response. The reason he is having the performance that he is from his Turning Point "Hustler" prop is that they incorporated everything that they could from what is usually SS technology and it has paid off.

The difference for me however, is apparently in the blade thickness (beins everything else is approximately the same). I have both Hustler and SS and the hustler costs me performance over the SS, but that's on my rig which runs 50 mph. On another setup you may not notice the difference and the price is definitely different.
