SS time!

Hey guys!

I am looking for some guidance... I have a '97 Glastron GS209 with a 5.7L Volvo Penta and a Volvo SX Cobra drive with a 1.51 ratio. I am currently running an aluminum 4 blade Vortex 14.5x18.

Here's my question:

I would like to upgrade my prop to a stainless Solas or something like that. My WOT range is 4200-4600. I can surpass 5000 fairly easily now. This is something I do not want to do- obviously. My hole shot is awesome and I get around 43 MPH currently within the 4200-4600 range. Again, I have more throttle to go from there... Ideally I would like to gain a bit more top end....

Any suggestions on the prop size or brand I will have the best luck with? My boat is a cuddy cruiser and we do not do much pulling tubes or such at all. Just run the deep river.

Thank you all in advance!

Re: SS time!

If you like the overall performance of a 4 blade prop and only want to lower exceeding 500 revs, going 2 pitches up should put you very close to 4600 rpm at wot. Will maintain nice hole shot and speed at lesser safely revs.

Happy Boating

Re: SS time!

That's great. I have read so many reviews and complaints of folks that use the Solars prop and loose a ton of either hole shot or WOT speed. I would have to guess the people that are experiencing this are either making a large change in pitch or they were not sure on the exact performance they had with their existing set up.

Thank you for the response!
