Re: Springfield taperlock pedestals remove?

If they have not been removed recently, good luck.

Squeeze the release tab and apply great amounts of upward pressure.
Its hard to swing a hammer up under the seat, tried.
Its hard to get your shoulder under the seat to push up, tried.

I have seen people use a bottle jack and a 6" piece of 2x4 to jack between the seat base swivel, and the floor.
Be careful.

You might want to hold the release tab with either a hose clamp, or duct tape, so both hands are free to throw things when you get frustrated.

Thanks I'll give that a try. I screwed up when I was redoing my deck and placed all three of my bases that have pedestals in them in the main deck leaving the front one empty and having one in the back of the boat that I am not used to. Would just buy a new one for the front but I don't really have a reason for the one that is in the back, i feel it will just be in my way.
