Spray rail/splash guard on an old starcraft?

Has anyone here needed or tried a spray deflector on their older starcraft? A product like the TACO spray rail, smart rails , or even a DIY setup.

I have a 1969 18' offshore v (as some of you already know).
I've only tested it twice now, both times it was a little choppy out, but I was surprised by a rather wet ride. Also surprised I didn't read much about that since starcrafts are so popular.

A quick search seems to indicate spray deflectors at or around the chine work well for other wet boats.

Are your starcrafts wet boats? I believe my bow is more blunt than newer models.

I have a '72 18' Mariner and it is wetter than the more modern hulls. They seem to spray it far enough forward so you get to drive through it. I've found trimming to get the bow up helps, but can still get wet depending on the waves. I'm interested to hear if anyone has used the splash guard also.

To both of you, I would suggest up on plane and near WOT. Well, 30 mph or faster. That pretty much keeps me dry in my 18 Mariner. :)

The only time I get wet is when the wind is really stout, 20mph or higher in the MR 21 '73.

I get soaked on my 18' Holiday! I'd be really interested in a DIY splashguard if someone has one or is creative enough to make one
