Re: sport jet 90 impeller question
i have jsut purchased a thundercraft typhoon with a sport jet 90 in it. the motor hase goo compresion in all 3 cylenders but when i go to take off it take for ever to get up onto plane i think the impeller is worn. i was wondering if the quicksilver impeller part # 828989t will work in my boat thank's a lot tony.
Some of the early SJ's had a different spline count IIRC, so you may want to check with a mercury dealer and have them cross reference your pump serial.
Unless you already bought it, solas makes a better replacement impeller, and ALOT cheaper. Also, your impeller probably isn't the problem, the wear ring tends to take a beating and one common trick is to fill it in with jbweld. (the wear ring is more expensive than the impeller, go figure...)
