I have a 2009 Volvo Penta 5.7 Gi DP. I understand the speedometer pickup is integrated into the stern drive. Where do I look for it?

Mines a white plastic tube the runs off the bottom of the back of the boat. It tilts so it wont break say if you beach the boat etc. Its hooked to a plastic tube. Mines sticks in the up /not working position all the time.

Look for a little hole in the leading edge of the lower unit. That's where Merc. puts 'em

Yep, and it'll be closed with mud, sand, or other debris. About halfway between the "bullet" and the anti-ventilation plate. Welcome to the "Mercruiser" family. Our speedos stop working all the time, get used to it! VP copied this wonderful feature from Mercruiser, and it was one of the worst things to copy! :)

Totally agree with above posters. Tiny little hole. Like paperclip thickness size. Mud trash and debris gets in there. On my old Yamaha I used to have to cleanit once a weekend. (lots of sand where we boat) Just clear it out and you aqre back in business
Good luck
