Speedometer Issue

Over the weekend, my speedometer and fuel guage worked off and on. Either both on or both off. Can anybody direct me on where to begin a wiring search? It is on a '79 Cobalt, 18 ft., Chevy 305, Mercruiser.

The spedo should work from water pressure but the light would get power when the key switch is in the run positon

In general when there working you just have to start shakeing and wiggleing connections till you find the one that makes it stop working

The fuel guage should have its sender right on the tank and those wires do get wet and nasty
