Re: Speed

Here's the crouch formula that may give you an estimation.

With the starcraft, the hull factor would be about 150-160 (on the conservative side). I'd subtract about 10 percent off the rated horsepower since the new hp ratings are at the prop and not at the powerhead. My guess top speed would be between 29 and 32 with about 1200-1300 lbs total weight.

Also, I'd get a gps for measuring speed.

Re: Speed

I have a similar boat and engine,16' Sea-Nymph with a 50 Evinrude, and mine runs a consistant 29 mph gps.

You will want to get a gps they are super accurate and always work where a pitot type speedo is hit and miss, some work well others are way off , the problem is you never know which you have, with a gps it is always right.

For a tach I would go with a Tiny Tach since it is garranteed to work with your engine.

To have a regular tach work your stator and rectifier have to work and the odds of your stator still being good are about 50/50, a bad stator is major $$ to replace.
