Specific manual for Merc 2+2 ???

I think I remember someone saying that all Merc/Mariner 4 cylinders were 2+2's. If I remember correctly then I assume there is not a special Manual I need to buy for my Mariner 125. Also can someone tell me at what RPM's I should Idle in nuetral? I beleive I may be running low because the motor somtimes stalls when put it in gear. Thanx in advance for any feedback you guys have been very helpful to this rookie.

Can't help with the manual question but the engine should idle at about 700rpm in gear, in the water.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

I have a 115 Merc 2+2 in gear it idles at 700rpm in neutral it idles at 800rpm hope this helps.

Thanx guys, Do you have any problem with the motor cutting out when you put it in gear? This is really the only complaint I have with this motor. This thing really rocks. Its a 1998 on a 17' Procraft bass boat. Yesterday it ran about 57 MPH at 51-5200 RPM with me and a friend on flat water.

Whitetail the only time mine does that is when I dont let it warm up enough. Real stubborn when cold when warm runs beautiful.

The Mercury service manual covers 75 through 125 horsepower engines. only the 100+ hp 4 cylinders are 2+2. You don't mention the idle quality. Is it running on the top cylinders at idle or does it sound likeit's trying to pick up one of the bottom cylinders? Also the idle speed on this engine is 700 +/- 50 rpm. You might want to bump it up a bit to around 725 (in gear/in water). Hope this helps!
