I have a OMC outdrive on my Four Winns... The previous owner said that there is a leak in the lower unit at the shaft.. This is what I would like to know.. Where would I go about getting the tool to spin the bearing carrier out??

If the leak is in the lower half, why do want to pull the bearing carrier in the upper? Just seperate the lower from the upper. And if you don't have a manual, get one. And not the Clymers.

Don't want to pull the bearing carrier in the upper.. Maybe the terms are in correct.. Hows this pull the prop... The part in the there with the four bolts you must remove... How you get that devil out??? I used a long puller on my old johnson but this one has no bolt holes to screw a puller in.. BTW I have a ol manual for it and am a pretty sharp cookie... Kinda wondering if I am going to have to make a tool.. Hate to break the thing its cast...oem Part# 5000074

Being 1987 I'm only guessing it's a Cobra drive, once you remove the 4 bolts then you'll need the puller, you could probably make one with two lengths of all thread, screw them into 2 of the bolt holes across from each other the a piece of flat steel across the end of the shaft with a couple opposing holes through it for the allthread to stick through, then just tighten with a couple nuts pulling the retainer out.

Don't forget to remove the drain screw. If u don't it will snap off inside the casing.

Yes you would be correct if it had the two holes to thread into... It does not.. It is a Cobra drive... Looks like you have to turn it... I was wondering if anyone had made a tool to do it...

you don't turn it, it pulls straight out. A service manual would be a good idea for that job. It's easy, but you want the step by step and torque values and tips.

Wish they woulda put the bolt holes in like on my Johnson... I have a great puller for that one... Well tool shopping is always fun.. I am going to shoot a picture of the tool my manual shows.. Looks like it has teeth on it for turning
