Just went through the spark plugs on my 1978 85 Johnson Javelin 85ETLR78C and noticed when looking at motor from the back (Standing at the back of the boat)...on the left side the top coil is hooked to the top spark plug and bottom is on bottom but on the right hand side the top coil is connected to the bottom plug and the bottom coil is on the top plug. Wondering if there is an easy way to find out if this is correct? Thanks..also what should the gap be? I have Champions L77JC4. Just trying to clear up some hard cold starts.
Thanks Alot!

Upper coil goes the the upper plug, lower coil goes to thelower plug---both sides.

Ok, Thanks. One more quick question..what should I be seeing for compression on this motor?

Ideally look for over 100psi with all cylinders within 10% of each other. don't worry about the numbers as much as being within 10% of each other. Unless you have a calibrated compression guage it may read high or low, but shoudl be consistant.
