Hi all,

This may be a silly question to some, but I wanted to clarify. When performing a spark test on my '82 Johnson 140 can I jump the solenoid posts w/o the ignition key turned and net the desired results? I ask because I cant seem to gat a good spark on my tester on any cylinder even though I can turn the engine over? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

J.

Re: Spark Test Question

The ign key in the off position will kill the spark. Put it in the run position and then jumper the solenoid.

Re: Spark Test Question

It should jump a 7/16 " open air gap on a spark tester. Not the spark plugs.
