spark plugs

I have a 81 volvo penta aq260a just bought recently and it has a electronic distributor just wondering if I can use the same plugs as when there were points I believe that the coil on a point type distributor puts out about 20000 volts and gms electronic puts out 40000 volts

I would say the first thing you need to do is get the right dist. in there. There are no ignition protected HEI distributors available, not to mention the curve will be all wrong.

A marine engine lives in a whole different environment than an auto engine and has a completely different duty cycle.

All electrical components in a boats engine bay need to be ignition protected.
