So I'm trying to get my motor running and I'm looking at the spark plug wires. They look ok but the wires are stiff and they seem to be baked from the heat. This is a 1966 60 johnson. My spark is very weak so should I change the wires?? or is there something else like condensor of coil I should be replacing.
Thanks much for any feedback.
Mike and Son Zach

Re: spark plug wires

You have points and condenser that should be changed. If the plug wires are stiff, they could be cracked and arcing. Replace them. Then if you still have problems, you can go from there.

Hello IBNFSHN,
Just called the place where I get a lot of my boat parts and they have points, condensor and wires so after work, I'll pick them up and try to get them on this evening. I will do a follow up post on this site in hopes that this will help others figure out their engine problems.
thanks a lot
Mike and Son Zach
