Hello again.

I have been posting a couple of threads about my '68 Evinrude 3836a 3 hp engine lately.

By now, I have almost ended my repairing of the old beauty. One of the last things I need now is to get some new spark plug wires and caps, to replace the 45 year old ones it is using at the moment.

I assume the wire type I will need is any 7mm copper copper cored wire. Is this assumption correct? And is wire core good?
Would this particular type be a good choice? Link

Also, I will need some new caps for the plugs. What should I choose here?
I have been looking at these, simply because they look quite a lot like the old ones. Link

Would that be a good choice?

The same seller also have these other types. Link
If anyone could spare the time to browse the link and tell me which one would be the best ones, I would very much appreciate it! :)

Thanks already.

That wire looks ok. I usually re-use the boots and inserts if the boots are not cracked/hard and the inserts are not rusted.

Green wire? Im not so sure about that, lol.

Are you in the UK? That is where the vendor is you have listed. If you are in the US or Canada let us know and we can help with more local vendors and black wire/boots, lol

c'mon chris!! nothing wrong with adding a bit of bling to the little motor!! lol that green wire would look great with yellow boots!

rallendk, assuming you are on the other side of the pond, any place that repairs lawn mowers, chainsaws etc will have the 7mm wire and boots.

I live in Denmark, which is now listed on my profile!
The prices on the link are very good compared to local prices in Denmark, and the shipping is very cheap as well.

If you think the products are good as well, I will go on and order the mentioned items. No need to look any further when I can get it cheap and delivered by the door ;-)
I dont really care about the colors either. As long as it works..

Do the items look good? Or should I find something else?

jmo, but i would not use the hard plastic boot shown in one link, those are more meant for non marine use. as far as the wire goes, its pvc coated and maybe a bit stiffer than hypalon or similiar wire. but the wire will work, just not sure if it will cause issues with the throttle?

So, you are suggesting a softer rubber kinda type of boot? And why do you think a more stiff wire could make problems with the throttle? :)

Would this be better? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7mm-HT-Ig...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab0b2479f

Green wire with red boots and you've got a good start on a Christmas decoration there. We could really decorate and get our motors in more prominent locations in our homes (where they should be). LOL.

yep, the soft rubber boot helps to keep moisture and corrosion at bay. the stiff wire, from my experience, will actually push back against your timing plate, and you will have to keep moving the slider if you spend any time trolling. ( i have some 7mm wire that is as stiff as coaxial cable, its day and night from the hypalon wire as far as flexibility goes)
