Spark plug routing for 125hp outboard

I have an older 125hp outboard, I believe it is a 86. I am having trouble getting it started. I have changed the spark plugs with the proper ones. New piston and rings. New coils. The issue is that when I crank the motor over, it is very slow cranking. I think it is the timing. I set the #1 piston to TDC and it lines up with the mark on the flywheel. I have counted the teeth on the fly wheel, and have 107. Did the calculation to determine 32 degrees. It is supposed to be 9.5. This lines up with the further most mark on the flywheel. I dont have a timing light, so when I retard the trigger the motor speeds up during cranking. So my question is how does the spark plug wires route to each cylinder. Right now they are top coil to top piston, and so forth down. Is this correct? Any other suggestions why this is not starting.

Also when cranking the motor, it is draining the battery. The battery is an everstart and just got it in Sept of last year. When starting the motor it is getting the positive terminal of the battery very hot.

the plug wires are rite as you explained it---usually a slow cranking motor is a worn out starter-brushes get to wore down when you change the timing it changes compression motor will turn earier-rebuild starter will help thats why your cable end gets hot also thats just my guess but bet starter will help ya out.by the way just a note never hammer on a boat starter to get it to turn over they have a cermamic coating on inside if it breaks starter is no good-

The starter is brand new. I have wondered if the battery is not enough to crank. But when I take the spark plugs out, it cranks very well. My gut is telling me that the timing. This motor has never ran since I have owned it, and now I need it to run for the tournament in a few weeks. Might just take it in and have a tech look at it.
