Re: spark plug removel

There are only 2 types of plugs, large and small. I think the large is 3/4" and the small ones are 5/8" (I think). If you are not sure what size plugs you have, then buy both at the local auto store. You can always use the small one on your Chevy.

A spark plug socket has a little rubber thingy inside the plug, which is used to hold the plug as you remove it from the engine. I always pull the darned thing out because I seem to bust the top off the plug and that tends to make me crabby.

Re: spark plug removel

i really don't know your motor & don't know what kind of plugs you have... but if the tool that NITRO BOY said doesn't work then try a regular combination ( box / open end ) wrench of that size... like 13/16 maybe... good luck ... years ago back when i was much much dumber,,( believe it or not , i pride myself on being alot less dumber ) i had an old outboard an couldn't get a spark plug socket down in there to get out the bottom plug... i tried & tried.. thought & thought.. just not nuff room .. see all my life ,, to remove spark plugs i always used a spark plug socket.. always... in cars , mowers ,etc..but wouldn't work in this cottonpickin' outboard motor.... so i said HECK WITH THIS ... itook a jig saw with a metal cuttin' blade & cut me out an access hatch ... didn't care ... had to get this plug out... heck,,, i got ductape..soon after i did this an removed the plug with sparkplug socket.. a neighbor stopped by,, told him what i done an the logic behind it.... he said "" why didn't you just use a 13/16 wrench "?? well ,, i coulda died & crawled under a rock ... BOY ,,, HUMANS DO SOME STUPID STUFF !!

Some Hondas require a 15mm deep thinwall socket. Most of the older Honda motors came with a tool kit that included a plug wrench. Many times attached to the gas tank.

Small engine stuff. I believe the last 185S three wheeler had a 15 or 16mm deep socket required. If I looked out there in the tool box I would know because it was one of those single socket purchases. The old 50-80 and some up to near 200cc or better used one even smaller.
