Champion no longer makes an "L4J." Someone posted that the replacement for it was a "UL18V." I went to NAPA today and they cross referenced the "L4J" and siad it's replacement was an "811."<br /><br />I have a 1975 Chrysler 55 hp. Just wanting to see if anyone can confirm with the RIGHT plug number.

Re: Spark Plug Question

The UL18V is for the later engines. I don't have a Champion book but my NGK book calls for B6HS.

Re: Spark Plug Question

Thanks Trent. I checked the site and it gave me a number for NGK plugs. I would still like to know the correct number for Champion plugs however.

Re: Spark Plug Question

My somewhat dated list shows L4J replaced by L82C champion. See where this will take you. Good luck enjoy!

Re: Spark Plug Question

Ziggy,<br /><br /> I have bought and used both the UL18V and the L82C plugs. The latter was recommended by a marina. The UL18V is a surface gap plug whereas the L82C is the more conventional. Honestly, I can't tell any difference between the two, as far as performance goes. From what I've read, however, the UL18V is supposed be be used with the "magnapower" versions of our engines. I don't believe mine is a "magnapower," however. I may put the L82C back in and see if I can tell any difference since I've got her running better recently. I'm still real new at this but I've learned a lot in a short amount of time. Let me know if I can be of any more help.<br /><br />Shane<br />shanewms@sheltonbbs.com
