My 'official' Merc manual for my 1988 straight 6cyl 115 HP Merc doesn't tell me how tight to make my plugs! Anyone have this nugget of info!

Re: Spark Plub Torq?

Any motor i have ever owned, car, truck, boat, lawn-tractor, I have always installed plugs untill snug, then about 1/4 turn tighter. I wouldnt worry about torque in Lbs or anything, just snug them up, and dont strip the cylinder. I have never seen anyone use a torque wrench on a spark plug.

If the threads are clean, it'll spin in with fingers until the gasket makes contact. A bit more with a wrench and the gasket crushes as it should. There's a feel to it you learn.

hope it helps

If you want to use a torque wrench, then this is from the 'official' Merc service manual...
